Lost Mystery Chests

With less than a month between them, Lost Mystery Chests was probably pre-scheduled. However, it’s still tempting to think that Betsoft wanted to try a more Western approach, since their asian-inspiredGold Tiger Ascentdidn’t connect all that well with players. You’re dealing with a pure reskin job in other words, and the ancient Egyptian tomb theme might be a cliché, but it’s perhaps more relatable than a Kung Fu tiger monk up in the Himalayas.
Despite having seen similar themes many times before, we do like the visual presentation in Lost Mystery Chests. That being said, the explorer character seems a bit stiff there on the right-hand side of the 3×3 grid. You get plenty of Mystery Symbol action in all stages of the game though, and the high hit rate awards plenty of top-up wins to keep you going. Casual punters looking to kill some time in a medium risk/reward environment may enjoy what’s on offer here, but this release will not even register on the radar of the high risk/reward crowd.
The pay symbols award between 0.2 to 5 x your stake for 3 of a kind wins, whilethe treasure chest Wildpays 25x your stake for the same. The Wild also substitutes for all pay symbols to help complete winning combinations, and it can land anywhere on the 3×3 grid.
There is another kind of treasure chests that steals the show in this release however, and that is the Mystery Chests from the game’s title. You will land3 to 5 Mystery Chests at random timesin the base game, and these remain closed until the spin stops. The Mystery Chests will then reveal 1 of the 2 premium symbols, instant cash prizes, wilds or scatter symbols. The Mystery Chests always reveal matching symbols.
You need 3+ Scatter treasure chests on the same spin to trigger the Bonus Round, and you win6, 8 or 10 free spinswhen you land3, 4 or 5 scatters, respectively. In addition, you get an upfront scatter payout of5, 10 or 20 x your stake, also respectively, and the feature can be retriggered. Each free spin comes with between 3 and 9 guaranteed Mystery Chests.
Finally, non-UK players, and anyone eligible, can take advantage of theBonus Buy option. This gives you 3 options to get instant access to the feature, and you can pay40x, 53x or 66x your staketo get6, 8 or 10 free spins, respectively. The bonus round triggers organically once every 126 spins on average, and you’ll benefit from a hit rate of 81.58 % during the feature.
You get to see the Mystery Chests feature in action in the base game, before we purchase the bonus round at 1:15 into the 4:14-minute highlights video. We went for the 10 free spins option, of course, and you can see for yourself how we fared by hitting the play button below.
In one way we like the visual presentation in this simple little Betsoft installment, but the charmless (not to say lifeless) explorer dude on the right-hand side should have either been animated or dropped. He doesn’t even blink when the bonus round is triggered, or when you land a larger win, but perhaps he’s seen it all one too many times before. We can’t really blame him, as this is essentially a reskin job of Betsoft’s previous release, Gold Tiger Ascent.
Lost Mystery Chests is all about the Mystery Chests feature, in case there was any doubt about that, and it triggers in abundance. This is not least the case when 3-9 mystery chests are guaranteed on each bonus round spin. Betsoft seems comfortable catering mostly to casual punters, which is a niche many developers have all but abandoned due to the high risk/reward trend that’s been going strong for some years now.
Pros
Cons
Gold Tiger Ascent- is Betsoft’s previous release, and only the Kung Fu-inspired theme is different from the game at hand. It plays out on a 3×3 grid with 3-5 Magic Red Envelope mystery symbols landing at random times, and 3-9 are guaranteed per bonus round spin. The max win is 2,520x your stake, and all the stats are similar.
Tower of Fortuna- is another 3×3 reels release from Betsoft, and you’ll move up an endless multiplier tower by landing consecutive non-winning spins. This means that your losing streak is guaranteed to end in a multiplier-boosted win at some point, before it all resets in the base game. It never resets in the bonus round though, which can lead to payouts up to 3,200x your stake.
9 Lions- is a highly popular 3×3 reels hit release from Wazdan, and you can choose both volatility and pace from 3 settings. You’ll collect the top-tier Lion symbol in a matrix table, and this leads to a sticky lion bonus round for payouts up to 500x your stake. There’s also a pick bonus that awards prizes up to 1,000x, which equals the game’s max win.
