Ornament Bombs
Take Santa’s Shop slot is a special progression game that is played in rounds of 10 spins. In the bottom right-hand corner of the screen, you will notice a Christmas ornament, that looks like a bomb with a fuse and a count-down on it. With every spin, the count-down decreases by 1. As you play, each time the Robber appears on the reels, an ornament bomb becomes fixed to that reel position. When the countdown meter reaches 0, all the bombs on the reels from that 10 spins round, explode and transform those reels positions into Wilds. When the next round of 10 spins begin, all the Wilds are cleared and the counter resets to 10.
Free Spins with Santa’s Sleigh
Landing 3 Santa’s Sleigh bonus symbols is the key to activating 15 Free Spins. During the Free Spins, the ornament bomb countdown pauses. To boost the payout potential during the free games, 5,7 or 10 Wild symbols are scattered on the reels. With each spin, the Wilds move to new positions.
Buy Bonus Feature
If you are itching for the Free Spins feature, but it just doesn’t seem to be coming your way, you can buy the feature. You simply need to select the Buy Feature button which will award you 15 Free Spins, plus you can select how many Wilds you want to play with. The cost to buy the Free Spins with 5 Wilds is 27X your stake amount, 50x for 7 Wilds, and 95x for 10 Wilds.
To get a real feel for Take Santa’s Shop, we got behind the reins of the sleigh and took the game for a 200 spins test-flight. Straight out of the gate, the anticipation was palpable as the bomb on the bottom right-hand corner started to countdown with each spin. Then, after a few fruitless spins, some robbers appeared on the reels and bombs got placed in those positions. With every spin, more and more robbers landed and by the time the countdown got to zero, we had multiple positions with bombs ready to explode into Wilds. But, all the anticipation resulted in an anti-climax. We really expected some kind of impressive payouts, especially considering there were 10 wilds. It then became clear that the symbols have really low payout values. We thought we would dive right into some Free Spins action, so we opted for the buy feature, and went for the top option with 10 guaranteed wild bombs. With each spin, 10 random positions were covered with wilds. Once again, the low payouts, even with 10 wilds present with each spin were a little disappointing but fortunately, each win contributed towards the total payout for the Free Spins session. At the end of the free games, we had covered the cost of buying the feature and added a little extra to our bankroll.
Take Santa’s Shop is a fantastic slot and BetSoft has done a remarkable job. From the crisp and polished graphics and animations to the soundtrack and features, this is a thoroughly enjoyable slot game to play. The ornament bombs feature works well and will have you on the edge of your seat in anticipation of what the wilds will eventually bring. As mentioned, the payouts are on the rather low side, for example, the top paying symbol, the snowglobe, only pays a measly 3x your stake for 5 of a kind on a payline. If you’re hoping a big payday with Take Santa’s Shop, then you will need to play this slot for a fairly long time in order to accumulate lots of small wins.
Pros
Cons
Take the Bankfrom BetSoft is essentially the same as Take Santa’s Shop, except for the theme. The concepts and features are almost identical, especially the 10 spins rounds with the bombs. However, even with that said, the gameplay is enticing and entertaining. As we said, if enjoy Take Santa’s Shop, then you definitely should try out Take the Bank.
Solar Kingfrom Playson, is another 10 spin cycle type slot, that utilizes what they call Flaming Frames. This slot, however, has some interesting features with better payouts, especially thanks to the winning multipliers. On the downside, the graphics, don’t even come close to the quality of BetSoft. With all that said, this slot is certainly worth taking for a spin.
Solar Queenwas the first game in the Playson Flaming Frames series. While the payouts are better than Take Santa’s Shop, it’s still nowhere close to that of slots that don’t use the 10 spins concept. The bonus round with sticky wilds is your ticket to some decent sized wins.
